Domaine Désiré Petit Chardonnay Le Grapiot Sans Sulfites 2019 Jura, France

The Jura region of eastern France is fast becoming one of the country's most exciting winemaking areas. It is here, in the commune of Grozon, that the domaine was established in 1932 by Désiré Petit who planted just under 1.5 hectares of vines on the Côte de Feule. Since then, the vineyard area has increased significantly to 27 hectares and the domaine is run by the third generation of the Petit family: Damien and Anne-Laure. The fruit comes from 50-year-old vines and the winemaking story is one of less is more… The wine is fermented and aged in new oak foudres but with minimal toast, with no filtering, no added sulphites and no racking this is essentially left alone for its formative years.

Very fresh, precise and tidy this is a great example of a wine on the natural spectrum. Fruit, minerality and subtle oak all in perfect harmony. As an apéritif, with fish tartare or sashimi, plateaux des fruits de mer, or creamy shellfish-filled vol au vents.
